Second Entrance and Other Accessibility Options at DeKalb Public Library

Jan 30, 2024 | News, Adults, Kids, Seniors

Did you know that the DeKalb Public Library has a second entrance? This one is located on the east side of the building and has a shorter ramp than the main entrance, which makes it welcome choice for those using a walker or wheel chair. The library is ADA-compliant and offers the following services/amenities for our patrons:

  • Ramp or elevator access to all areas of the building
  • Walkers with baskets for use within the library
  • A large print collection of popular fiction and non-fiction books
  • e-books on the hoopla and Overdrive’s Libby app which can be adjusted for low vision
  • An audio book collection on CD
  • e-audio books which can be downloaded
  • Low-vision accessibility on public computers inside the building
  • Accessibility Toolbar for our website by clicking the symbol on the lower left of the screen
  • Story time programs that incorporate sign language
  • Outreach Service
  • Services for the blind and print-disabled
