Film and Stop Motion Categories
  • Action / Adventure
  • Science Fiction / Fantasy
  • Contemporary / Realistic
  • Best Visual Effects (VFX)


  • Photo entries must be a jpg or pdf file. Film entries must be in mp4 format and limited to 45 seconds.
  • Entries must be sent by email to [email protected] between Monday, July 19 and Friday, July 30. Include your first and last name, your phone number, which category you are entering, and a title for your entry.
  • Contestants must agree to allow the DeKalb Public Library to share their entry on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, the Just for Teens page of the library’s website, and be displayed in the library.
  • Content must be created by you, not by anyone else.
  • Content must be rated G, for a general audience.
  • Film or Stop Action Content can be computer-generated, but entries must also include real life elements, props, or people.

Voting and Prizes

  • Library staff members will choose the best entry in each category. Those winners will each receive a $10.00 gift card to Five Below.
  • Entries will be displayed on social media, the library’s Just for Teens page, and in the Teen Corridor of the library between Monday, August 2 at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday, August 8.
  • Winners will be announced Monday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. Winners will be notified by phone.
