The DeKalb Public Library is pleased to announce that we will hold our tenth “8 Countries in 1 Day” celebration on Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
In 2024, we hosted performances by NIU’s Ballet Folklórico Aztlán, the Heather and Thistle Highland Dancers, and the Harambe Drummers, sampled basbousa in Jordan, canjica in Brazil, and pancit bihon in the Philippines, played fanorona in Madagascar and summer festival games in Japan, and even had time to pick up a few words of French! Each country also offered crafts and raffles for prizes for those who attended.
How would YOU like to sponsor this community event? Please help us make this year’s event even more memorable by becoming a sponsor. A donation of $150 or more will help us pay for food, crafts, decorations, and activities. Sponsors will be listed on the library’s website, “8 Countries” brochures, day-of “passports”, and in publicity releases about the program. Sponsors are also welcomed to provide the library with informational handouts to give away during the event at our sponsor booth.
To sponsor this event, please contact Samantha Hathaway at [email protected] or at (815) 756-9568 ext. 1701.
Please contact us by August 1 to ensure that your logo and business name will be included in our marketing.
We hope that you consider sponsoring this fun multi-cultural event. And whether you become a sponsor or not, please consider this letter an invitation to come celebrate the cultures of Montenegro, South Korea, Italy, and many others during “8 Countries in 1 Day” on September 13. We hope to see you there!
