I mean, Room on the Broom!
It was written by British author Julia Donaldson and illustrated by German artist Axel Scheffler. Room on the Broom was published in 2001, and that means itโs turning 25 years old in 2026.
Itโs the story of a witch and her pet cat who love to fly through the sky on a broom! Over the course of one crazy night, the pair make friends with a dog, a bird, and a frog. Eventually, they even meet a dragon. But we wonโt spoil what happens next!
As the witch and cat meet their new animal friends, they make โroom on the broom,โย allowingย theย dog, bird, and frogย to ride along.ย ย Itโsย a story about sharing what we have, even if a new friendย doesnโtย seem to have anything to give in return.ย But it also teaches us that,ย if we treatย people kindly, they may help us out in surprising ways in the future.ย ย
Room on the Broomย was the eighth timeย Donaldson and Scheffler worked together on a book. Theirย previousย collaborations include: A Squash and a Squeeze, Monkey Puzzle (known as “Where’s My Mom” in the US), and The Gruffalo.ย
