Were you overwhelmed by all the books that came out in 2020? If you’re wondering which books to carry over to your 2021 reading list, we have some suggestions for you!
1. Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam – If you are someone who enjoys books about apocalypses, Leave the World Behind is a great choice. The book follows two families forced together in a remote home in the woods due to strange events taking place in the outside world.

2. The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett – The Vanishing Half seemed to be a favorite among many this past year. The story centers on community and identity, following two twin sisters who have separated from each other. As they live their separate lives, their daughters lives merge together.
3. One by One by Ruth Ware – Looking for a Thriller? One by One follows a group of co-workers who get snowed into their chalet while on a work retreat. What happens next? You’ll need to read this book to find out!

4. The Searcher by Tana French – The Searcher follows a retired police detective as he relocates to Ireland. A boy turns to the detective for help when his brother goes missing, leading the detective to get back to work. A previous book club choice at the library, you’ll definitely want to check this one out.
5. Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – Mexican Gothic seems to be another favorite from this past year. One day, Noemí receives a letter from her cousin asking for someone to come and save her. Noemí answers the call…unsure what she will find.

6. Eat a Peach by David Chang with Gabe Ulla – In this memoir, chef David Chang shares his personal and professional life through stories, and reflection. A wonderful book that makes the reader feel connected to Chang on a deeper level.
7. Little Eyes by Samanta Schweblin – This book follows several different characters and their interactions with a new toy, Kentukis, that give strangers an inside look into the lives of others. If you enjoy books about the dark side of technology, this one might be worth checking out!
