Our Main Lobby display case in August features the Barb Food Mart!
Barb Food Mart is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 to help alleviate food insecurity for children and families in the DeKalb School District. More than 60% of the students in the district qualify for free and reduced meals, and Barb Food Mart strives to serve these students and connect families with community partners and services when needed.
Their mission is to promote dignity, equity, and choice while reducing food insecurity and increasing access to community resources. They offer support to 200 families each week, and opened satellite locations at DeKalb High School in 2021 and Malta Elementary in 2022.
