
Summer Reading begins at the DeKalb Public Library on Monday, June 4 and runs through August 4. Summer Reading is for all ages, with a children, teen, and adult reading logs and prizes for each age level.
Children’s reading clubs are open to kids ages 0-12, Teen Summer Reading is for ages 11-17 (or students going into middle or high school grades), and Adult Summer Reading is for ages 18 and up.
Children’s Summer Reading
Children will earn a FREE book and other prizes, while supplies last, by completing their first reading log and turning it into the Children’s reference desk. DeKalb cardholders may also turn in bonus reading logs. Completing these will earn you additional prizes, while supplies last. Non-DeKalb cardholders may participate in all Summer Reading programs that do not require registration and will receive a free book and other prizes upon completion of one reading log. Prizes will be available starting Wednesday, June 27. Raffle winners will be drawn at the summer reading wrap–up party on August 4.

Teen Summer Reading
Teens can complete their logs by reading or listening to books, manga or graphic novels, or by attending library activities. They can also sign up to be a VolunTEEN at the library; every four hours will gain them an additional chance to win a prize during the drawing. At the halfway point of their first log, teens will receive a Chipotle coupon for FREE food. Once they complete their first log, teens can return it to the Teen desk to receive a FREE book, a Kuipers Family Farm buy-one-get-one admission, An Epic Air Trampoline Park coupon, a voucher for (4) FREE Kane County Cougars Baseball reserved seat tickets, and a pair of Virtual Reality glasses which work with a smart phone (first 50 teens). They will also enter a raffle to win a gift card from Amazon, Target, or McDonald’s, or Kindle Fire Tablets. Prizes will be available at Teen Reference Desk from June 27 — August 4, 2018 while supplies last.

Adult Summer Reading
For adults, read or listen to a total of five books of your own choosing. Return your completed reading log to the Adult Services desk by Saturday, August 4. Your reading log serves as an entry for the raffle of prizes at the end of the program. You may fill out as many reading logs as you would like!
