n March, Representative Kinzinger visited the newly expanded DeKalb Public Library. Library officials and key capital campaign volunteers advocated for the importance of libraries in the community. The group went through the new addition as well as going through the Haish Library building, which is currently under construction. The library was able to show Kinzinger how this library is embracing technology with Radio Frequency Identification systems, automated self-check out and returns, the upcoming Collaboration Studio, 3D printers and much more. And the Representative was duly impressed. He was quoted by the Daily Chronicle as saying, “I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s really pretty amazing to see the technology at play. … If it exists anywhere else, I don’t know of it.”
The library hopes that our mission and vision was taken to heart so that U.S. Representative Kinzinger can advocate on the library’s behalf to receive the $4.5 million owed to us by the State of Illinois.
