Wild Blue Ukulele Orchestra Provides Virtual Concert

Sep 14, 2020 | Adults, Kids, Media, News, Personal Enrichment, Personal Enrichment, Seniors, Teen, Virtual Events

The Wild Blue Ukulele Orchestra is dedicated to expanding people’s notions about what the humble little four-stringed instrument can do. On Saturday, September 12, the library welcomed the Wild Blues back as they provided a virtual concert open to the public held on Zoom. They helped us roll out the new Ukulele lending library thanks to a grant from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation. Patrons will now be able to check out ukuleles from our Library of Things.

Using a full range of ukuleles—from sopranino to baritone and banjolele to U-Bass—the Wild Blues perform primarily fully orchestrated, house-made arrangements of songs in a variety of genres (folk, jazz, rock, pop, classical, reggae, standards, and even some funk), with a smattering of vocal numbers thrown in.

Thank you to Wild Blue Ukulele Orchestra for helping us provide this wonderful, virtual experience!

For questions about the ukulele lending library, or our “Library of Things” in general, please contact Bob at [email protected].
