Do you miss the library’s in-person events and story times? We’re happy to announce that during August and September the library has partnered with the DeKalb Park District to bring live outdoor programs to the community! From story times to animal shows, art demonstrations to scavenger hunts, the library will host programs at various parks in DeKalb.

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. until the end of September, Miss Laura and Mr. John will host Story Time @ Huntley Park for families. But, that’s not the only program taking place at Huntley Park. On Saturday, August 22, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., join us for Caricatures and Silhouettes at the Park. Then, for our older audience, we will be holding Fairy Tales for Adults at the Park on Saturday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m. All of these events will practice social distancing and library staff will be wearing masks. Join us for any of these enriching events; no registration is required!

It’s not just Huntley Park that we’ll be at! On Thursday, August 13, we will be hosting our largest outdoor program at the Hopkin’s Park Band Shell. Animal Express will be providing a live animal show for all ages. Register for a time slot now! Sessions will be held at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m., and will last half an hour each. Then, join Miss Julie and Miss Laura on Saturday, August 15, at 10:00 a.m., for a super fun Family Fun Science Saturday at Annie’s Woods. Register for this event now!
