Down the Garden Path Book Club
January 19 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
New for 2019– the Down the Garden Path book club will meet on scheduled Saturdays from January—May 2019. Join us as we discuss a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles that will help keep you warm during the long winter days until spring finally arrives. The selected titles will not include gardening how-to books but instead will focus on the personal experience of gardens and gardening.
The first Down the Garden Path Book Club will meet on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the Bilder Family Meeting Room. We will discuss the first book in Beverley Nichols’s Allways trilogy, Down the Garden Path, first published in 1932. Beverley Nichols (1898-1983) was a prolific English author of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, and plays. Down the Garden Path is a humorous semi-autobiographical account of his adventures as a beginner gardener. While plants take a major role in this story, Nichols also introduces the reader to the unforgettable cast of human and animal characters that live in his 1930s Huntingdonshire community.
