Bookworm Barbs: Alvin Ho: Allergic to Girls, School, and Other Scary Things
Wednesday August 10 @ 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Alvin, an Asian American second grader, is afraid of everything—elevators, tunnels, girls, and, most of all, school. He’s so afraid of school that, while he’s there, he never, ever, says a word. But at home, Alvin is a very loud superhero named Firecracker Man, a brother to Calvin and Anibelly, and a gentleman-in-training, just like his dad. With the help of his family, can Alvin take on the outside world without letting his fears get the best of him?
Alvin Ho: Allergic to Girls, School, and Other Scary Things is our Bookworm Barbs book for August. Bookworm Barbs is our book club for students going into K-2. We read shorter chapter books with lots of pictures. Older first and second grade students may be able to read on their own, but the books also make a nice family read aloud, too.
Bookworm Barbs is a book party! Not only will we talk about the book, we’ll enjoy a snack and do a craft, too.
Pick up a copy of the book at the Children’s Department Desk while supplies last.
Please register for this event, as there is a limit of 8 participants.
