Sep 3, 2021 | Adults, Kids, Media, News, Seniors, Teen, Virtual Events

On Thursday, September 2, at 6:30 p.m., the DeKalb County Health Department joined the library virtually to present on emergency preparedness. September is National Preparedness month, and this year, the theme is “Prepare to Protect.” During this virtual presentation, participants received tools to help them talk to their family about making a plan during a weather emergency. Participants also learned tips for building an emergency kit.

Paige Forbes is currently the Health Promotion and Emergency Preparedness Specialist at the DeKalb County Health Department (DCHD). Before Paige worked at the Health Department, she worked for ten years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Oak Crest Retirement Center. Being passionate about the well-being of others, she decided to pursue Public Health. Paige graduated from NIU in December of 2019 with her degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Promotion. Paige started working with DCHD as an intern in August 2019, where she worked as a Health Promotion Intern. In March 2020, Paige was hired as the Health Promotion and Emergency Preparedness Specialist.
