April 25th, 2016
The DeKalb County Community Gardens has partnered up with the DeKalb Public Library for a third year to continue the Seed Library Initiative. Beginning on Earth Day, Friday, April 22nd, the library will begin to offer seeds available for “check out”!
This means that the community can come to the library (open to all, not just DeKalb Library users), look through the seed collection and choose the seeds they would like to plant for the year. There will be informational materials and guidelines that will help you determine how many different seeds you need for your size garden. Once you have your seeds, you are asked to “check out” at the main circulation desk where you will be asked for minimal information to take the seeds.
DCCG will be hosting more gardening and seed saving events throughout the summer and fall. Stay tuned!
