Paint-a-Plug Contest

Patrons of DeKalb Public Library have the opportunity to be the first to engage in a brand new Paint-a-Plug Program to turn DeKalb’s fire hydrants into works of art. Artists are encouraged to incorporate different elements of the community or their neighborhood into their art. The program is not limited to current DeKalb residents. The City encourages current residents, former Huskies, students and faculty of District 428, employees of DeKalb businesses, or any outside artists to participate.

DeKalb Public Library has been granted access to three fire hydrants nearest our location for our patrons to paint. We are hosting a contest to pick a winners in three different age groups: Children ages 5-9, Tweens and Teens ages 10-17, and Adults ages 18+.

To enter contest, use the following template and create your design. Paint-a-Plug Application

Tips: Your design does not have to be elaborate and can be done with markers or colored pencils. Provide a brief description to explain any special aspects of your design.

If chosen, you must also agree to paint your assigned fire hydrant between April 1 and November 1, 2019.

Contest submissions will be accepted Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 26, at any of our service desks at DeKalb Public Library.

This FREE contest is being offered to patrons of DeKalb Public Library by the City of DeKalb Citizen’s Community Enhancement Commission (CCEC.) Basic paint supplies provided by The Friends of the DeKalb Public Library.
