The newly expanded DeKalb Public Library will be a modern library that includes cutting-edge technology. In addition to the free Wi-Fi and high speed internet, the library will offer a high-tech collaboration studio, multiple 3D printers, laser cutters, and quality printers. Our library is committed to using technology to hone in on the quality of service that patrons receive. In the new library, patrons will be able to experience a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system to its fullest capacity. What is RFID? It is an electronic system that will allow patrons to use self-checkout machines effectively, return books with automatic check-in, and locate books quickly.
A modern library evolves with our community needs and this includes keeping up with current technology. Library materials are also offered in various formats: audio books, ebooks, electronic resources, music, and of course, print. These are a few of the many reasons why libraries, especially the DeKalb Public Library, are vital and relevant to the community.
