Saturday August 22 @ 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Mary Ellen Nilles visits Huntley Park to give a brief summary on the history of creating caricatures and silhouettes. She will demonstrate the process for each on willing participants in front of an audience.
Mary Ellen has a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as a Master’s of Art in teaching, secondary visual arts. She has been drawing caricatures professionally since 1986 and cutting silhouettes for nearly 30 years.
Mary Ellen will create caricatures or silhouettes for a number of our guests. Tickets to have your caricature or silhouette created will be given out on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. If you do not arrive in time to get a ticket, or do not wish to have a caricature or silhouette created, you are welcome to watch and enjoy the artist at work! Mary Ellen will be speaking about the process of each technique to the entire audience.
This program will be held at Huntley Park at 2nd and Garden Streets in DeKalb. Mary Ellen will be creating the silhouettes and caricatures under a tent. The audience is welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks as they watch her work.
This program is free and open to all. No registration is required. It is held in conjunction with the DeKalb Park District.
