Homeschool Palooza: Vendor Fair

Are you a homeschooler or perhaps someone looking for more information on homeschooling? Or are you a parent looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon? Then check out the DeKalb Homeschoolpalooza! This homeschool fair will include a full roster of events, including workshops on starting homeschooling and homeschooling high school, several activities run by local businesses, FREE mini guitar lessons by Axe in Hand, an open Q&A/demonstration on 3D design in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio, a used curricula sale/swap, and much more! Find the Homeschool Palooza page on Facebook to meet our local business partners and learn what you can expect from this event!
Vendors will include: DeKalb County Home Educators, Usborne Books, Midwest Museum of Natural History, DeKalb County History Center, Ellwood House Museum, Discovery Center Museum, Kishwaukee College, Dance Dimensions, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Scouts BSA, American Heritage Girls, Walcamp, Classic Books, NIU Community School of Arts, Tails Humane Society, Blue Line Driving School, The Gaming Goat, Fargo Skateboarding, Laser Quest, Babywearing International, 4-C’s, Axe in Hand, Pinot’s Palette, Off Center Studio, The Music Connection, Kid Stuff, Mardi Gras Lanes, Energym Gymnastics, and Epic Air.
We will also have a room with activities scheduled. A few vendors will perform or give seminars on their areas of expertise. Additional activities include: an activity with Walcamp; a science experiment with Discovery Center Museum; creative movement with Dance Dimensions; history investigation with Ellwood House Museum; and bilingual song/activity time with 4-C’s. Downstairs, a special session of Read to Rover will be running, featuring service dogs. Please sign up for a 10-minute time slot for this activity, and a 15-minute time slot for the mini guitar lessons. All other activities are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In addition, the Teen Room will be open during this time. There will be an all-ages craft with Kid Stuff, followed by a Mario Kart tournament for teens and tweens, sponsored and run by The Gaming Goat. Stop in to see what the library has to offer for teens and tweens!
This event is entirely FREE and is open to all, no registration required! A schedule of the day’s events will be available at the welcome station. Be sure to check out the library’s Parent/Teacher Collection located in the Adult Services department!
