Film Screening: The Taming of the Shrew

May 31, 2018 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Join us for a FREE screening of the 1967 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.

Baptista Minola (Michael Hordern) is attempting to marry off his two daughters; however, he will marry off his youngest, Bianca (Natasha Pyne) only if someone will marry his eldest, Katharina (Elizabeth Taylor). Katharina is an ill-tempered shrewish woman but a lusty young nobleman, Petruchio (Richard Burton), takes on the challenge of taming and marrying her. A subplot involves the wooing of Bianca by several suitors including handsome Lucentio (Michael York), foppish Hortensio (Victor Spinetti), and elderly Gremio (Alan Webb).

This movie showing is anticipation of tomorrow’s live theatre event. Stone Soup Shakespeare presents The Taming of the Shrew at Huntley Park on 2nd and Garden on Friday, June 1, at 6:00 p.m.

This program will be FREE and open to all, no registration required. Families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and folding chairs to make themselves comfortable.

There will be a donation box out leading up to and during the event. If you’d like to see more programs of this nature held at the library, please consider making a contribution!
