Book Chat: The Crossover
March 15 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
“With a bolt of lightning on my kicks… The court is SIZZLING. My sweat is DRIZZLING. Stop all that quivering. Cuz tonight I’m delivering,” announces dread-locked, 12-year old Josh Bell. He and his twin brother Jordan are awesome on the court. But Josh has more than basketball in his blood, he’s got mad beats, too, that tell his family’s story in verse, in this fast and furious middle-grade novel of family and brotherhood from Kwame Alexander.
Book Chat is an after-school book club, held once per month, which focuses on contemporary teen stories. It is a laid-back look at the lives and social issues of teens just like you and offers a chance to express your point-of-view and understand that of someone else.
Pick up your copy of this book discussion book on the NEW fiction shelf outside of the Teen Room. Get a special due date when you check it out with a circulation clerk.
This FREE program is intended for teens in grades 6-12. For more information, please contact Susan at firstname.lastname@example.org or (815) 756-9568 ext. 3400.
Like basketball? Did you know that by participating in a this, or another of our book discussion this month, you can be entered to win an NBA2K18 game for PS4?
There are really three ways to enter the drawing:
1) Present your library card in good standing to staff in the Teen Room
2) Use it to check out a copy of our “book discussion” book
3) attend one of our four book discussions.
This is part of a new initiative “Teens Read @ DKPL” to encourage tweens and teens in DeKalb to become active readers and library card users.
