A Big Read Thank You

“A Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula K. LeGuin

Cover1The 2014 Big Read of DeKalb County has wrapped up its eighth year! The DeKalb Public Library applied for and won a highly competitive grant for $15,000, one of only 77 Big Read grants awarded nation-wide by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with Arts Midwest. We are only one in three libraries in the nation to get this grant for eight consecutive years.

We’d like to thank our Steering Committee members from Kishwaukee College Family Literacy Program, Altrusa International of DeKalb/Sycamore, School District #428, and NIU College of Liberal Arts Office of External Programming. We’d also like to thank our community for its support!

Donate to the Big Read

By donating to the Big Read, you will be helping us promote literacy in our community through quality programming and distribution of free books to local schools, charities and organizations. We (as a community) have been lucky to receive The Big Read grant for eight consecutive years. It has been successful because of your support. Please consider donating to this matching grant and help us bring it back for another year! We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
